Round Hammock Floor Net in Former Staircase Opening

This project by NetMates shows how a seemingly unused and even unsafe space can be transformed into a functional and inviting highlight of the home. Previously, a round staircase occupied this spot. After its removal, the opening in the concrete frame remained unused, even posing a security risk.

We designed a round hammock floor (loft net) that now fills the void in a beautiful and safe way. The white net with 30 mm meshes blends perfectly with the surrounding white walls, creating a super bright and open atmosphere. What was once an empty gap has become a cozy lounging space, perfect for relaxation, play, or simply enjoying the light-filled room.

The installation also tells a story of precision: eye screws were placed every 15 cm around the circular concrete frame, ensuring both safety and stability. The net was tensioned with a double zig-zag lacing in white rope, which gives it not only durability but also a clean and refined finish.

This round shape is a rarity in hammock floors and makes the installation a unique architectural feature. Step by step, the work involved drilling into the concrete, carefully setting the eye screws, attaching the net at selected points, and finally completing the lacing until the surface was perfectly even and secure.

We are proud of our clients project that shows how design, safety, and comfort can come together in such an elegant way.
